Now the reson i have put The last two selections in will be explained in due time.
In my computer Studies class, we are learning about Computer Addiction, and what can we do to stop it.
I belive that there is no such thing, But other people think Computers are not good and are brain washing Children and Taking over the work force.
I will takle each subject one at a time.
First Computer Games: So People belive that Computer games(or console games) are taking up to much of other peoples lifes, i am one that think this is true, People can not play video Games 24-7 it is not right (even for me) i never play Video games constaly for hours on end (and if i am it is a really good game) but i have breacks. I have a friend lets call her...KALILUPA. there is a game at the arcade at the shoping center near our school, there is a game called DDR(or Dance Dance Revalustion) this game is highly addictive. Kali, was addicted to playing it, spending all her money on playing when she could have spent it on something better (ie saving up and stuff like that) Whil it is bad that Kalilupa was spending truck loads of money on the game, she was also getting good hand-Eye (Feet Eye/ Refletes) Cornation.
Like with Video Games, Computers have good sides and Bad.
One Good is, now with the internet, people can find out anything they want from recapies to how much a CD is going for. But a bad side is that people use it to Spy, Cheat, and Stalk people. Some belive that computers are de-socilising us but if you have the internet, it is more socilying then de. Ie meeting people, in message boards(Anime Forever) and e-mailing people over sea's, and people you don't know.

I disagree with computer addiction *sigh* this is a looooong argument ;D
Basically computers are the future, they were destined to be. More and more technology is generated as faster and more powerful machines with huge memory and processing power flucuates across a global market. Businesses come and go but the raw computer power remains regardless of law and crime throughout the world. Today we are seeing some third world countries slowly connecting to the net, the high-speed traffic of information as it is called. America and China for example have a huge ISP usage every year as ppl chat to people, surf the web, downloading or transferring data and the like.
We see today as huge IT companies dominate our television, public and private areas, schools, universities and other businesses such as airlines. Computers have brought our species a step further in technology and social and economical benefit. Cars, trains, ships and planes for example are designed by computers, without them what would we have to travel long ditances in short time. Agriculture requires most computer technology to improve harvest control and crops. Computers have allowed us to develop better technology in every field known to man, even ethics, law and religion.
There are some negative implications on computers such as children being too involved on online stuff rather than their education. The speed at which technology grows is acceptable by well-off countries but the implications of adapting that technolgy to less-off countries is a troubled sitaution especially in the world market. There is also fraud and misusage of business operations in computer industry as well as criminal offences such as creating viruses that infect and damage many computers per year.
I've spent three years undergoing IT experience at a military base and from what I've learn't we humans can't simply turn away from computers for it is only making us stronger and more flexible than ever. To turn away from computers would simply be returning to the dark ages.
*I have no comment on games as yet*

computer addiction - don't believe in it (of course i rite those words sitting at a computer totally engrossed in what i am doing and touch typing the way i taught myself too, with the possibility that i may not get off the computer until i am kicked off, which wouldn't happen if i had my own computer but i don't, even tho i wish desperately i did)
i don't believe in computer addiction. and what a stupid thing to waste time on in computer class when you could be doing so many more interesting things - i think you should talk with your teacher about this! unless you find it interesting of course, but doesn't it belong in a psychology class? sounds like psychology to me

computer addiction?.. i've heard (such an urban myth) about like this little kid who got so addicted to his n64, and attacked someone when they tried to take the controller off him... but frankly i think it's all bullnuts.. i'm going to do one of those nutsty rhetorical questions thingos now.. some people.. i.e myself, have a sweet tooth about a mile wide.. i've shoved so much of my money into buying confectionery, some people might even say i'm addicted. certainly it can be argued that it's bad for me in physical and financial terms.. should lollies be banned? that's such a bad example and i'm ashamed that i even used it.. but you know what i mean.. addiction exists at some level or other in everything.. some japanese students go WAY overboard with their studying etc, and it nearly (or does) kill them.. let's ban studying!! hang on. . oops i'm trying to get you to disagree with me dammit.. ah well, you get my idea

that's allright if you don't understand it istanze,,, i don't expect you to all be as screwed up as me.. i do think that heavy and unnecessary reliance on computers tends to leech brain cells however.. there's the new TI-89 graphics calculators.. and they can do algebra, factorise, factorise complex numbers, solve equations, and i'm repeating myself i know.. but students won't learn how to do these things by hand anymore, cos the calculator will do it ALL for them.. so if they're in a situation without a calculator, i.e westpac.. then they're screwed! that's not quite addiction.. but you know what i mean and i should stop saying that..

those calculators are cool tho... and for some things, eg trigonometry, its better than having to look up the values on a chart... but for others, yeah, i guess we really should learn to do the stuff ourselves... but you know me - far too lazy...

There is suck thing as computer addiction. How do I know this I had it at one time. I would get on the computer after school and would not get off it till I went to bed and even then I left it on. What happens when u get it, is when u stop going outside with friends, stop doing your homework so that u can have more time on the computer, and when u get on the computer all the time till someone makes u get off. And even if your mom tells you to get off, u say one more min and stay on for hours. My brother has game addiction he is always playing games all the time and has no life because of it. It's ok to use computer and be on them a lot but when they start to take over your life it's a problem.
